GONE FISHING…FOR IDEAS

P1020647Gone fishing for ideas, but I’ll be back on Monday.

I would be delighted, in the meantime, if you would look through my previous posts. Perhaps you missed a few or will reread one with a new perspective.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post! Welcome to the tales of a woman solo traveler and thoughts to make today the start of something new. I hope you find information and inspiration in the text and images and join me in my quest for growth, wonderment and self-improvement.

Enjoy the days.

  1. As for ideas… Let me ask some questions. Outside of, say, hostel reviews, what kind of research do you do before embarking on an adventure to a place you’ve never been before? Do you always have tour books? Maps? Technology of any kind? Cash or credit cards? Convert money before you go or when you get there? What holds me back in traveling to some places, generally, is not knowing the language, first and foremost. On one hand, that makes me think of trying a tour, but on the other hand, I fear tours might be too restrictive. Just some ramblings…

Would love to know some of your stories about the most interesting experiences, ones that surprised you, ones that challenged you…

    1. TripAdvisor is a great source and often brings me to other sites. Lonely Planet, Rough Guide, Moon, etc are good starts. Maps are nice, particularly if you will be getting around by car or bus. What to bring, is a topic I am addressing in the next couple of days so I hope you do not mind waiting. Do not let language deter you. You can always bring a translation app with you, but you will get by without it. Tours are fine, but they just don’t match the experience of traveling on your own.

Yes, stories are coming. I promise. Thanks for your input!
