[Bringing my travels up to date will take some time. For now I will include less narrative and more imagery. I hope you will be no less inspired.]
Three of my favorite places in the world are Coney Island, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Prospect Park. Yes, there may be more beautiful, majestic places but these are woven into a fabric from my earliest treasured memories and my love from them has never waivered or diminished.
As a child I lived walking distance from Coney Island. It was my first experience with the ocean and clearly instilled my life long passion with the sea. The gardens and park came later, but equally inspired me.
They continue to nurture me.
Returning back to New York in January 2021 I ventured to all three as soon as and as often as I could.
The amusement park, boardwalk shops, cafes, and restaurants may close for the season (Nathan’s on 1310 Surf Avenue and Titiana right on the boardwalk are the exceptions)
but there is still plenty to nourish us.
